Boulder retaining walls hold the hillside in place while creating something worth lingering in. Each level has its own purpose — space for dining, for gathering, for play. A lawn terrace sits at the heart of the garden, bordered by flowering perennials and deep burgundy foliage that bring color and life through the seasons. Low-voltage path lighting is woven into the stonework, carrying the warmth of the garden well into the evening.

Our friends at Premier Ponds introduced us to the homeowner after they installed the water feature. The homeowner worked with designer Jane Luce with ‘The Art of Landscape’ to draw up the perfect plan. We installed steppingstones, boulders, decorative gravel, along with many specimen trees and shrubs provided by Susanna Farms. This Asian style garden is sure to transport our clients into the realm of ultimate relaxation.

This picture is another example of Xeriscape landscaping and gardening. This photo shows how we used two different types of river rock to add interest and contrast. Curving designs are always a good choice in landscaping. They mimic nature and gently lead the eye along the entire landscape. The brick edging we installed also helps with this visual aspect. The large rocks serve two purposes. Firstly, they create a dramatic impact. Secondly, they give the landscape a three-dimensional quality. This helps to prevent the landscape from appearing ‘flat.’ The plants of varying heights and widths also help to achieve this.

This elegant backyard transformation blends modern clean lines with natural textures, creating a serene and stylish outdoor living space. The custom-built grill station features a stone veneer base, granite countertop, and horizontal cedar privacy screen, all set beneath a bold wood pergola that adds architectural interest and shade.
The adjacent landscape features organic curves, boulder accents, and a dry creek bed of mixed river rocks, which bring a touch of nature into the structured space. Thoughtful planting, layered mulch, and soft outdoor lighting enhance the cozy, curated look—making this backyard ideal for relaxing evenings or weekend entertaining.
