Hunt Hale Jones Architects

Over the past nine years we have worked with Hunt Hale Jones Architects on two major projects, and we feel very lucky to have done so: They represent the shining stars in our portfolio of work! The first was the total makeover of a two+ acre property in Ross that involved the down-to-the-studs remodel of a dated ranch-style home, along with extensive additions to the main house and other structures, and relocating the swimming pool. The project ran at full-tilt for close to two years and encompassed work in excess of $8M, and resulted in a truly world-class estate in one of the most coveted pockets of Marin County. The second project was the complete renovation of a high-rise condominium unit in downtown San Francisco’s 333 Bush Street building, and the end results were once again nothing short of fantastic. From both a contractor’s and owner’s point of view however, the process that leads to the finished work is extremely important as well. Working on an individual unit of an urban high-rise with multi-million dollar properties above and below, involves complexities of design and execution completely beyond the realm of single-family home renovations. It was very clear that Hunt Hale Jones’ experience in commercial and multi-family architecture contributed to the success of the Bush Street project, and we never had to worry that the materials required to build what they had designed would not fit in the building’s freight elevator, or that any element of the design would run in conflict to HOA regulations. At each step of the way on both projects every member of the Hunt Hale Jones team was consistently professional, creative, and focused on results. RFI’s were answered promptly and clearly, job-site meetings were well managed, and action-items were delivered on the dates that they had been promised. Hunt Hale Jones is an extremely versatile, knowledgeable, and organized architectural firm well-suited for a wide range of project types. Their custom homes division produces inspired work ranging in style from traditional, to super-modern LEED rated “Green” homes, and the expertise that carries over from the commercial and multi-family teams at Hunt Hale Jones clearly contributes to the success of their residential projects.

We recently collaborated on a residential project with Dick Hunt and Sanders Li of Hunt Hale Jones. They are a knowledgeable duo and were helpful and easy to work with throughout the design process. They worked efficiently to keep the project moving and kept up communication with our clients to make sure they were always informed. They acted as creative problem solvers and worked with us to create a harmonious design linking the architecture and landscape. We look forward to our next project with the team at Hunt Hale Jones.

We used Dick Hunt at Hunt Hale Jones Architects in San Francisco as the architect for our new home in the East Bay. Dick, very ably assisted by Sanders Li, provided excellent and professional guidance at every step in our home design process. They were always available and timely in response to our ideas and questions and patient in working through a series of changing ideas and suggestions on our part; we felt like we were all working in tandem toward a goal which Dick and Sanders recognized as very important to us.
