this doesn’t seem to be true as of March 2018. I don’t see any privacy settings in my profile page. I had no idea so much information would be made available to 28 of my contacts just because I was doing some shopping for my home. please please help me patch this very unexpected and unsettling privacy breach.

You can make your idea books all private, mine are - I just don't know how I did it right now. Your comments are visible to all.

in your acccount there is a section on left advance settings

under edit profile

Don’t know if it this varies on different phones, but on the iPhone, there are several ways to create an ideabook and some give you the initial option to make it private, and others do not. If you create one while on the Profile tab by tapping the “Add an Ideabook” square, there is no option to make it private initially. Once you have created it though, you can make it private. All you have to do is open your ideabook and you will see 3 dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Tap them, then select Ideabook Settings...there you will see the option to make your ideabook private.

Alternatively, you can create an Ideabook by saving one of the many photos you see here on Houzz. When creating one that way, there is normally the “Make Ideabook Private” toggle visible when you set up a new Ideabook. Either way though, you can always make your Ideabooks private by opening them and tapping on those 3 dots.
