I think the way to go is with a framed picture. Since you have large ceilings, if you want to emphasize them, choose a picture with vertical movement. Or you can arrange small pieces of art.

Thank you Meg B. Frank Interiors, I wasn't thinking vertical but I like that idea, if I went vertical would you put anything beside it, or just a vertical framed picture by itself.

Gray & Walter, Ltd. I like everything, I like scenery, flowers, abstract. etc. I don't have a favorite artist. I just didn't know if I should go with a grouping of framed pictures or one large print.

Oh...one more thing. Not sure where you live. There are usually great galleries and museums available for all of us to visit for inspiration, or go online if you can't hire a pro. Look at museum collections online if you live in an area without good galleries. Hope this helps.

Your ideabook is full of very formal looking rooms, but this one picture could sure be adapted to make your room stunning:

If you do something vertical you would want something that would fill up majority of the width of your sofa. It will make the picture feel more substantial in the space.

Diane- Few thoughts. You could add a horizontal frame centered with the sofa. With your beautiful floor and clean lines that set up couldnt go wrong. Or you could add 3 mid-sized frames at different heights and have fun with an asymmetrical setup. I cant help but add that we offer wall art options featuring flowers and naturescapes. What's unique is that you could also use our wall art as an occasional table when needed. I'm taking the liberty of adding our website in case it helps http://mymez.com/?page_id=213

how bold do you want to be?

Yes, art is very personal and have you ever thought of art quilts? It would not only add color but also a warmth to the room. If you Google art quilts then click on images, there will be many choices of styles and artists. Visit the SAQA.com for more examples.

Thank you, I do want to add warmth but yet sophistication to my room.

These art quilts are very sophisticated, not really "quilts" in the usual sense.

Diane-I thought of sharing some of our wall art products for your consideration. They are made to order in RI with your choice of photo, size and stain. This piece also functions as a tray. We also carry larger sizes that function as both wall art and end tables. http://mymez.com/?page_id=213. We have a large collection of photos to select from...
