I am in the process of planning for a bathroom remodel for 2015 and am developing my budget for the same. The changes I intend to make are as follows: a. new shower door; b new tile for shower; c. installation of new shower head (if possible); d. New (or re-faced) vanity; e. new counter tops as well as new tile around garden tub and on the floor. The questions I have are as follows: 1. Which is more cost-efficient: new vanity install vs. vanity refacing; (Note: See photo of vanity); 2. I have existing stone in the bathroom (above the tub, on the floor and partially covered wall: the problem is it is from 2003; photos are attached. I am not sure what this is as I do not remember the exact description of the product; Will this be a problem to remove and replace? (Note: See photos); 3. Considering a rain forest type of shower; are there restrictions on that type of shower head? I am hoping to lighten the bathroom as it is very dark in its current state.

I just need some guidance on the choices regarding: a. cabinet color (thinking of light blue to grey); b. coordination of tile/stone for shower, floors and counter tops. ; c. shower door: frame vs. frameless; floor-to-ceiling options; d. general ways to create a sense of space. Note: This is in a condominium and I am not planning to knock down walls to add space; working with the limitations that are present.
