Got a landscaping plan, just need a little advice....

For the west corner of our garage, I was thinking a variety of Arborvitae...maybe pyramidal Arborvitae? The front of the house faces south and receives full sun for the majority of the day.

The plan for the bed under the two windows to right of front door included an existing Carissa holly. The plants that will be in this bed are false Goshiki hollies, purple pixie lorapetalum and Fire Star dianthus. Any suggestions on what to plant in corner under the flag nearest the garage door (which is where the Carissa holly was?)

I desperately want a tree in this yard. The bed to the left of the front door will also repeat with false Goshiki hollies, purple pixie lorapetalum, dianthus, some pachysandra and a Yuletide camellia on the corner. The cleanout for the sewer, water line, and other utility lines are under the grass in the front, so my hubby is not in favor of planting a tree, even a slow growing Japanese maple. Any ideas on what might be a consideration?

We will be getting rid of the other green shutters and painting the front door either a coffee brown or a mossy green.
