.About the animal skull ...not in a dining room for me , and its way too high ,if you are going to keep it there lower it .

Stripe. You'll like it longer than the other choices.

So you all think the stripes will work best even though it doesn't have any of the sand color of the furniture? I love it too!!! my only concern is that it's really white...but then I put the beige swatches and it doesn't look as great? Why is that?
Oh the animal head is up high bc am doing a breakfast nook and there is gona be a very high tufted coach there.
The white will tie into the trim and accessories, which will serve as a nice backdrop for your furnishings.

I also agree with the stripe. It is dramatic and your room is severely monochromatic - keep it that way and work with it.

Wow, I can't believe everyone is going for the stripe. I guess I'm the odd man out. I hate high contrast stripes. They always remind me of ice cream parlors and barber shops. I would either choose the graphic prints on #2 or #5, or go for something more neutral.

I don't like bold stripes either, @feeny! It's just a matter of personal style or preference.

I can see where bold or neutral would work, I just would not choose a stripe.

I would pick something with color in it rather than a black and white scheme. You could do a nice teal and white print and really keep it classy.

Thank you all! I already have solar shades if you look closely! I am doing a roman shade in the eat in kitchen area outside mount and wanting panels in the family room. I know I should keep both areas looking the same bc they are on the same wall.

The area rug is like a cream gold color

I would keep trying. Try to source a zig-zag or ikat pattern. I think either would be better than what you have thus far. Have fun with it!

I need to add another color?
^ that is a nice fabric and would add awesome color!

Your trim looks very white, so a sand color next to it might just end up looking dingy. I think any of #1, 2, or 5 will work, but I think you can do better. I don't think you need to bring another color into the room.

And I agree that one animal head needs to be lowered, but wait till the tufted couch goes in. The head may need to move to a totally different spot.

MrsBaglady-- trust your first instinct! The stripe is classic, and exudes the same vibe as your room. The others are too contrived. Every single color does not need to be in the drape.

How do you feel about the stripes in a full length drape from ceiling to floor?
Hi Groveraxle, how are you? glad to see you :)

If you are going to have roman shade, I definitely go with #5

OMG I think we have the same dinning room chairs. I also have a huge design dilema (with wall color) not fabric for curtains. I would go with the sripes, I regret not asking for the Houzz peeps before purchasing the curtains :(

I agree with Feeny, you can't go wrong with any of your choices, but some of us think some are better than others.. however you need to be happy!

Maybe a cornice board or just panels--not full curtains.

    2 or 5

The stripe in a full length drape will look awesome! Break it about 1" on the floor
  • 12 years ago
I would go with choice 5 for 'lighter' modern look. I think stripes are bold if this is what you prefer
  • 12 years ago
The chandelier seems to be French or traditional. I might consider #2 or #5 with a black stripped table runner or stripped draperies with the print as the runner.
    Another vote for stripe :)
I like the stripe and the bottom one.
I like number two.I think the stripe has too much black in it.
Here is another pic of number two.. And yes the chandelier is french :)

    #2 definitely
