I've had cork flooring in my kitchen/eating area/family room/den for 5 years. It is a darker color than your photo & looks quite rich in my opinion. I chose cork for it's softness & warmth. Hardwood in an area with water didn't make sense to me. We didn't have enough amps left to install in floor heating under tile and tile is too cold without it. There have been no problems with the cork. I didn't seal it because I suspect it would wear off unevenly. I just sweep or vacuum the floor and use a spray cleaner & mop. Portugese cork is the best according to my flooring expert. Installation requires a perfectly level floor. It took quite a bit of levelling compound to achieve this which added to the expense. I don't think it's a DYI project. I don't think cork would be suitable for a home with pets. Their nails could probably scratch the surface. Hope this helps.

We had cork in our kitchen for a few years. The first type we had was too soft and dented/scratched easily. We then got a type that is impregnated with PVC (I think). This slightly limited the color/pattern selection, but not by much. The product was fantastic. Twin boys and a 40 pound dog with long nails didn't harm a thing over a couple of years. We have bamboo now, but only because the kitchen is now part of an open floor plan with the rest of the house.

I had cork in my kitchen for 15 years and Absolutely Loved it! There is a big difference in preformance & care depending on the brand.- the finish coat differs. I had Wicanders which had a vinyl finish on top of the cork. Would highly recommend this brand.

Wouldn't a vinyl finish make this vinyl flooring that looks like cork? Similar to laminate counter tops that look like granite.

No it is just the top coat on top of real cork. Does not alter the appearance of the cork.
