I would end at the base of the upper cabinets. Reason being that the casing around your window looks substntial, leaving not much space to the sides and above it. I don't think it wold be worth the tile/cuts.

The range looks somewhat awkward. Are you able to use the left burners comfortably, considering the size of pots and handles and safety? Ranges right next to an entrance make me nervous.

So as to be consistent with what will be done on other wall, just to under the cabinets is my vote also. As well, don't think it would be nice any higher. Once you add a window treatment, it will feel complete.

Plain glass splash back to under cabinet line. Tiles would be fussy.

Yes I think you should go around the window to draw the attention.

Yes I think that would make the room have an overall lighter feel to it and really open it up!

I would go all the way up with the tile. Have seen it done like that with subway tile.

Changed my mind, given the above pics, I think all the way is really nice, but using smaller tiles vs large.

Where I live that stove install would not pass inspection and for safety reasons never mind fire you should always have space on both sides of stove.

This looks like a new build or recent remodel. I'm shocked that any builder would place a stove against a wall and next to a doorway!! That is very awkward and a huge safety hazard. Forget the backsplash! As soon as possible, I'd move the stove to the center of the area where the refrigerator is. Or, if room, create a small island to house a cooktop.
