Lost Septic tank

Does anyone have ideas on how to find a septic tank? We have no idea - no real indications (like greener grass,etc) the rumor is that it might be under cement. Our driveway is paved. So is our carport. We haven't had any problems so far but would like to know where it is without too much hassle! Also $$ is an issue. Any ideas on how to find it?

Using a metal sounding rod (or probe) is a practical, physical method to find a lost septic tank. To find the tank, get a 36-to-48-inch steel soil probe, start probing 10 to 25 feet away from the house outlet pipe, and listen or feel for the solid thud of concrete or metal

Original blue prints. Somewhere there has to be documents regarding placement. Ground penetrating radar could be a quick route to success.

Greener grass would be a bad thing if you have a septic! A Local septic tank cleaning company who has serviced it in the past might know exactly where the clean out is, worth trying a few phone calls.

Where is your cleanout? A plumbing company can do a camera through the system after pumping it out.

where ever your bathroom is it about 15 feet to 20 feet on the outside of the house, straight out from the bathroom. We just went through this. If you have a well, it is easier to find, if your well is in the back of your house your septic well be in the front of your house. if your well is in the front your septic will be in the back. I hope this helps it really helped us. Oh you well have to dig a little because it is about 1 foot down with a cap on it.

Hope you found it after 12 years, tanks are typically pumped out every 5 years.
