I would like to paint my living room all white I think). House is 150 years old.V board ceiling, bead board to chair rail height. Original plaster uneven walls. The tiny room ( about 10 x 15) has a field stone fire place floor to ceiling 4' by 8' . It takes or demands a lot of room and attention. Two external doors. Two doorways ( kitchen and dining) Enclosed stairs behind fireplace. Three large windows. Small crown moulding. I guess I'm trying to say....busy!
I would like to know about what kind of white. Gray to match fireplace? Pure white for life to avoid making it look run down and dated or dirty?
How about finish. gloss on trim? semi ? walls maybe satin or suede to hide imperfections? What on the ceiling?

Floor could be another problem. I was going to strip it to natural but money is an issue. So now it's a gray and looks old and cold. Warm beige? Your thoughts please.
