the custom tile...did it have to be cut or was that size available? I wanted to have tile cut like this and the tile wholesaler told me it would not work because you would lose the factory edge. Does this matter?

You can buy this glass tile in many sizes. This was a standard 1" x 8" tile. I do recommend trying to go with a pre-made size if possible.
