Refinishing Project

Need ideas how to refinish this pair of nightstands I purchased from a thrift store. I'm thinking of using chalk paint but I do not know what to expect coz I have not used them before. It's going to the master bedroom with Wasabi wall colour. I want to go bold by using coral reef shade but at the same time I wanna use a neutral shade just in case I decided to repaint my room in the future. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Go with a color you really love. If you ever repaint, and decide they need to be updated, it's not that hard to do.

If you have wasabi wall color, I think i would clean them and try to polyshades them towards espresso because the grain of the wood is rather nice. If that didn't work well, then, by all means, chalk paint . . but taking them darker and possibly changing the hardware to something a little more contemporary / silver toned would be my first step. I think I would look for a linear vertical hardware piece to echo the ribbon of fluting in the middle . . lose the googly eyes look .. think they might be more contemporary that way .
