I have a mature magnolia tree in my yard. The roots of the tree are above group and look pretty hideous. I removed the old spider plants that previously surrounded it. But I need to camouflage the roots. I would prefer using other plants that do well in shade and don't need a lot of watering. I do not want to mulch. The roots extend about 4-6 feet from the tree. Any suggestions,
