Is the tub on an outside wall? If so, you could run a conduit up the outside of the house and come in through the wall.

What are the Architects and General Contractors solutions? Did ether of these firms know the tub was going to be used or was this a change during the building process?

IMO - Remove the drywall necessary, install the CORRECT wiring, patch the drywall, texture and paint. Conduit on the exterior will also work but that solution is usually used on remodel projects. If you plan to sell this home someday the conduit may not be acceptable to a future buyer.

For a $10,000 tub and new construction, definitely cut into the wall as needed and do it right. It's not the greatest feeling chopping up your new walls, but it's better than tacking something on before you even furnish the place.
