Life's too short to let furniture worry you. Buy the bed, because you love it. Buy nightstands and a dresser that you love, if you haven't found them yet then you haven't found them yet.

Later in life, whether or not you bought a matched set of bedroom furniture in your twenties will not register on your list of regrets.

I would avoid it. A few pieces that match are ok, but not more than three. Typically you can find lots of things that blend harmoniously w/o buying a matched set. If you can, try to hire a designer for a consultation at the very least. Otherwise, subscribe to shelter magazines and see what the pros do. Have fun!

Matchy-matchy sets are "out" right now. However, when you are thirty-something they may be in again. Always a gamble, but buy pieces you love and you'll be on safe ground.

I agree, find the pieces you love most. The pieces that, when you see them, you are willing to eat mac n' cheese for a month to pay for them. You want your first bedroom "set" to be pieces you are enthralled with, not pieces you settled with because you might eventually regret having not purchased them.
I really like the product's Kevin gave as an example above. The mirror-esque/silver finish dressers are gorgeous and still match your bed and offer a versatile base for the decor to go on top of them too!
I always go by that saying: Flip a coin, and while the coin is in the air, you will realize in that instance what side you don't wan the coin to land on.

Kayla, you'll notice that some of the pieces I picked that would coordinate with your bed carried a theme (X members, square/rectangular, tapered legs and not too ornamental). Take cues from the bed. That will allow you to coordinate the pieces into a coherent ensemble so it doesn't look like you took a trip to the local Goodwill store and bought just what you could find.

Would it be odd if I got the bed and a tall dresser that matched and then have the rest of the furniture be other pieces? Or should I get all different pieces?

I know how you feel…products are discontinued and then it is too late to add on to things. What is you do the bed and the bureau? Then you can do something fun for bedside tables, lamps and bedding. That said, I would love to see a picture of the bureau just to make sure it is as lovely as your bed.

I would buy the bed, dresser and one side table. Instead of the high boy, consider a small armoire and a different side table (same height as your set's). That would give you the opportunity to mix it up a bit, but not too overwhelming. It really comes down to how comfortable you are with coordinating pieces, your budget and time/interest to shop.
