I actually think the wall color in there now is great. I don't care for the dark brown accent wall though. I think I would paint that one of the popular grey tones. Revere Pewter perhaps.

I'm assuming the furniture in there now was the staging or previous owner's. Is that correct? What does your furniture look like? That might change things, but I really do like that white with gray undertones. Do you know what color that is?

Btw, Kelly Moore can match any color you choose even if it's from another store. My ex is a painting contractor and KM was our main supplier. They are popular with painting contractors because of quality for price point. Because they did so much contractor business they used to have an entire room of mis-matches. I could spend hours in there because they would sell it to me for $1 per gallon. A DOLLAR! Sadly it's not a KM anymore. Now I have to pay a reasonable price for paint. :(

Out furniture will be in the creams , natural tones which is why I was thinking of doing a nice neutral tan, etc?

Can you suggest some colors in the beige/tan family?

And yes i am definitely getting rid of the brown.

Is there a particular brand and color and finish of black that you recommend for the doors? It's a great idea and I'm planning on doing that.

My favorite black paints are Black Truffles (Ralph Lauren) or French Bulldog Black (Martha Stewart.)

Try Muslin, or Natural Linen paired with colours like Escarpment or Metropolis for accent walls. For the doors you could use Willow, Wrought Iron or Black Bean Soup in a pearl or semi-gloss finish. (All Benjamin Moore colours!)

You've a beautiful home. Locate a qualified interior designer who reflects your esthetic for a few consultations in your home. They would be able to examine your lighting and decor close up. On my computer screen the existing paint palette looks cool but the flooring and some of your decor items looks warm. A good designer would be able to recommend what colors could achieve your goal.

If you are going to keep the area rug in the living room, choose a color from it and replace the plain white throw pillows with the same color :-)

I assume you will be getting an area rug when you move in. Always pick your wall colors from the colors in the rug - not the other way around. Then build your accessory colors from there. Trust me, it's much easier this way. I painted first, then tried to find a rug - IMPOSSIBLE!!! I ended up re-painting, which was very $$$!

Labyrinth walk and Dapper Dingo are nice neutral beiges that might bring out the tones in your wood floor. Black accents will add a rich and sophisticated look to all the rooms and then bring in all your accent colors through the use of accessories like pillows and rugs and window treatments. That way you can choose brights if you like, for spring and summer, and add warmer tones during the fall and winter months. Good luck

Go to best paint store where you live and pick best glossy black,,, there are so many names by each company that are basically all the same,

How about the blue/gray from your rug. No brown wall. Your lamps and silvery accents will stand out pull together the rug. Add throw pillows in the wall and rug tones.

May even have a black accent wall, under the stairs. I like to color in a copy of the room to see what I like. Easier than painting and hating it.

Wow thank you all and apologies for the delay!! Here is the finish. Now just trying to figure out what to do with the odd layout of the living room. I'm planning to get rid of the burnt orange and just bring in a tiro gold mirror on top of fireplace and other dull gold accents to tie it all in. Thoughts?

Oh and curtains!! Really long ones. Anyone know an affordable spot for really long curtains?
