Environmental Consciousness

Why does Houzz promote bottled water (lower shelf in photo of pantry)? Do you not realize how bad it is for our environment? Not to mention the water shortage, esp in the state of CA? Please be more aware.

Thank you.

Quite frankly, I was thankful to have bottled water for my family of six during our water company's recent "boil water" order due to increased bacteria levels. What sort of containers do people keep emergency water in? From what I see at the stores, everything's in plastic from water to milk, OJ and other juices, soda. I can't say that I often see bulk water sold in glass.

Absolutely and you are worried about your tap water being filtered there are affordable filters that can be attached to the faucet everywhere.

No one said it's the responsibility of Houzz to refrain from showing a picture of a pantry because there is bottled water on the shelf. They are more than welcome to display pantry upon pantry if that's their desire. The point is the display of bottled water.

While everyone is free to have & voice opinions, it would be wonderfully grown-up if they'd comment on the product at hand & not distract others with their views on ancillary items like items used solely to illustrate possible uses of that product.

Good Lord, this is taking political correctness to a new level! Puleeze move to another site if your looking for green sustainability and political correctness. This is a wonderful resource for decorating ideas, for decorators and clients. If you don't like the pretty pics, just move along and shut up, no one came here for this.
Excuse me now, I have to get into my cost inefficient, gas guzzling, air polluting, Range Rover and go buy some bottled water so my pantry, in my giant footprint house, can look just like this one!!! . Luv it! ❤️

    Who displays water like this????

Ccg96-If you lived in the SF Bay Area of CA I know that we'd be best friends! My thoughts exactly and I agree with you wholeheartedly! There are so many rude and inconsiderate people spouting off their mouths here on Houzz. It's uncomprehensible to me! Here's to politeness and manners which seem to be lacking in some on this wonderful site!

You'll find plenty of bottled water in my pantry, and I make no apologies for it. I do recycle every single bottle. If you live in an area prone to hurricanes and flooding, you know to keep extra water on hand. Recently it became vital when my area flooded badly. Thank you, Houzz, for providing us with great ideas that we can modify for ourselves, depending upon our personal needs, budget, and taste.

Please give me a break about bottled water! Are you seriously complaining about this. That is ridiculous. I love this photo and Houzz. I agree with the other comment about political correctness. I mean really. It's just a picture. Now it's wrong to show bottled water in a picture! Really! Get a grip! You don't have to put bottled water in your pantry, if you have one. Or maybe there is a problem with having that too. I hate people who need to complain about every little thing. I think you have too much time on your hands. I have bottled water and filtered water in my fridge also. If you are going to start complaining about the items I guess you should complain about he food too then, like it's not gluten free or oh no there are nuts and sugar! I guess you don't like real fur either. I love my furs. They keep me very warm in the winter and they look gorgeous too! And by the way Merry Christmas! I'm saying that because I can. Do you have problems with Christmas trees in public places too?

Holy jeezus. Seriously. I’m behind a 3 years on this comment but get a freaking life. Do you drive a car? Do you wear clothes? I’m sure I can stick the political correctness up a dark hole and come up with reason as to why nothing should be showed on Houzz so that they don’t offend anyone. Get off your self righteous horse and move to mars.

Is your concern the hoarding of water during time of drought or the use of plastic? I don’t hear you commenting on all those plastic food containers so the original post seems quite baseless unless it’s just about the water (which, last I checked, remains a vital ingredient for life). The computer you’re using to post your comment also contains toxic components, but can’t see most of us doing without one.
My pantry is organized but not this pretty. I don’t see why it can’t be both.
