We made sure our builder added reinforcements to the ceiling in the area where we planned to hang the chair. Since the chair did not have any mounting hardware or a mounting plate, we had a piece welded to the top part of the chair and used bolts to attach the chair to the reinforced area. We recommend that you put a cross beam above the ceiling rafters IF possible and bolt through that... thats how we hang all of our Ski Chair Lift Swings
