Paint sheen questions - yikes!

Well, now that I've picked out paint colors - I have to pick out sheens. What do most people do? Eggshell? I have two little boys so I don't want little handprints on the wall if we choose flat paint. And do we go satin in the boys bedrooms/hallways? Oh so many questions... Also, what do we do in the bathrooms? Semi-gloss?
