When placing mirrors the first question you should ask is, what will if reflect? In this photo it seem to reflect the legs of the table. I do not recommend this.

I think the trade off for a mirrored strip would be great (however, I would add the mirror starting 1/10th down so that the top part could remain smudge free....

Not practical if you have kids. If your idea was to add mirrors I would just do a 2 or 3 wide strip of mirrors about a 1/10th down like ASVInteriors stated above.

Mirrored furniture and cabinetry really isn't my thing. However, I've seen kitchen cabinetry where they inserted mirrors instead of glass in the panels of the door or where there was a mirror at the back of a display cabinet that I wouldn't mind.

If it is base cabinet that is not functioning I think the design depends on the client. If it does not have doors that open finger prints most likely will not be an issue. Mirrors will obviously be reflective so that is something to bring up to the client. It may look nice in a photography but not for practicality. Hope this helps!

Mirrored base cabinets could be dangerous. I can imagine any number of ways they could be broken and cause some very severe injuries. Perhaps as upper cabinet doors in strategically selected spots, they could be very effective. As mentioned above, the best use of mirrors is to reflect something worth reflecting, I can't imagine anyone enjoying the reflecting of legs and feet, except maybe in a shoe store. In the example shown, I would much prefer the mirrors on the upper cabinets reflecting the view from the window rather than the legs of the table and the floor.

Also, there is nothing about those cabinets that "disappear". They merely intensify an area best left alone.

I think mirrored cabinets would be nice if done right (e.g. not on base cabinets). They could look nice as pictured if the mirrors were higher and reflecting the outdoor space instead of the table and chair legs. It makes sense if there is something you would like to reflect, but don't want to lose storage space...

Looks cool in that pic. As long as you don't have kids or pets it would be practical. Otherwise it would be a daily chore keeping them clean. I would rather have a mirrored backsplash then cabinets.
