New Awning...

We just installed a new doors and awning. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to paint the awning? My boyfriend and I were bickering on the storm door color. I wanted black but he wanted white. Guess who won. :/ Now we indecisive about the awning.. I again want the trim and L brackets black but he wants white. We also need the center color of the awning. Also thinking about putting shutters on the side. Any suggestions?

Why the ornate door on such a stark exterior?
That in addition to it being white makes for a real design disaster.
Paint the door black, convince your neighbor to get the same one or ditch the ornate one and both of you get matching ones painted to match the black railing.
Isn't the neighbor weighing in on the awning color since it covers their doorway too?
Black shutters look OK.
Paint the facing triangle to reflect the slate color of the roof.

I assume this is a duplex, too bad you and your neighbor could not agree on a door style and then agree on the awning, I agree with you the storm door and the trim should be black the storm door really does not suit the building and no i would not put shutters on this building. as for the center color I think this would be a good time to discuss this with your neighbor. I alwys think the exterior entries on duplexes look the best when they are the same

You were thinking about putting shutters on the side of what? The door? Of so, no. I would not try to bring any more attention to that storm door. Can it be painted?
Agree with the above, the house looks very disjointed without collaboration from your neighbor. I would think the goal of attached houses would be to make them look like one house. Can you work with them, or aren't they on board with any improvements?

I totally agree, getting together with the neighbour and doing the same for each side
would have been the best way to go, especially for the entrance. The windows, not so much. the screen door just doesn't go with the house. Neighbours door looks better.

And you have beautiful unique front doors! I would hesitate to cover those at all.
Some possibilities .... I think the shingled version with white trim works the best to create unity.

Unfortunately working with the neighbor is out of the question. She originally wanted a tacky plastic awning but we balked at that. So we ended up paying 100% for the new awning...and on top of that she wants us to sand her door because when we had the old awning removed it weathered her door.

Shutters on bay and double window do not work. Windows too wide for shutters.
