Have you ever considered having interior shutters installed? Something along the lines of a 4" louver would look great in your windows, bringing in natural light and a comforting look.

Also, think curb appeal when trying to spruce up your house. You may want to add color to your landscaping (with beautiful flowers in bright hues of yellow, red, orange, etc.). Also consider a hand full of mature trees. My personal favorite is a dwarf Japanese Maple for the front yard (perhaps on top of your hill).

Hi maggiesmom -- groveraxle is right on point. All I'd add is perhaps a little landscaping with foundation plantings on the right (ornamental grasses are fast growers) and something flat and vertical at the bottom of the stairs, perhaps painting the foundation.[houzz=]
Also I see your drapes in the large window are blocking a bit of the light the buyers look for, so you might consider losing the tiebacks and pulling back the drapes a bit to hang straight during showings. Good luck!

Also, apply a fresh coat of white paint to your rails (if they are in good condition, they do not need to be replaced). Also, if you go with the suggestion of painting your doors charcoal grey (which I think is a good choice), you should also paint the lower portion of the house below the siding (the wood lattice and what looks like a bit of concrete slab) in the same white color all the way across the bottom of the house. It seems to look a little tired from what I can see in the photo. Painting it white will bring new life and help it to have a more cohesive look as well (especially if you keep your window trim/casing white, etc.) .
