Your first (of the three show) is the best. Light but interesting.

The first one gets the wow. The others are much quieter. I would keep looking if the first one is just not getting the "I love it" response from you.

In the very first pictures at the beginning of the post either would work because they bring out the flooring. The three recent pics, go with the first for the wow factor, but the third is really pretty also. It's like the accessories for the little black dress, it will pull everything together.

I like the first of the three you posted as well. I think the more open grains and movement it has, the more wow factor you will get.

I see from your comment above that you are not too open to putting black granite but I think a black granite with the same earthy tones as in the floors as a secondary color in the granite would be the best. The granite samples in your photos are SO perfect that there is not much contrast- I think you mind find the same too monotone once everything is done if you choose a granite too similar to the floors.

If you're not too keen on black granite, how about doing the opposite and putting a white/off-white granite with the same earthy tones as your floors as a secondary color in the granite. Good luck and please let us know what you decide in the end!

I like Artemano's idea. Check out Bianco Antico. There are lots of pics of this granite on houzz. That would give you the wow, then go simple on the backsplash.

I suggest a light granite---nothing too busy-should have more cream than gold... For your backsplash, I suggest something reflective---it's dark in that corner. You could do a glass, a glass/stone blend, stained glass, continuation of your granite counter, etc. just nothing too random. When selecting granite, take a piece of your travertine and a cabinet door for reference---perhaps a backsplash sample too if you find one beforehand. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

I am leaning toward a lighter color stone, that seems more in my comfort zone.. just having a hard time finding cream ones instead of golds or orange. Although I probably will be decorating in brown and gold since this is my furniture I got.

Definitely think you should lean lighter, also! Aside from granite, have you considered one of the engineered quartz countertops? I say this because they have simpler veins/patterns than most of the granite.

I have the black granite like the one shown above. It is not difficult to keep clean. I use Weiman's granite cleaner in the spray bottle or plain ole Windex. For your kitchen, however, I suggest sticking to a lighter color since the floors are light. Good luck!

Yes beverlynn, I'm kinda with you since my kitchen is kinda dark to begin with and I would really like to light it up. . But the ones I'm picking, some are saying it blends to much, which I agree. . Its just hard to find the right lighter one. ..lol

I honestly don't see how a light counter won't "pop" off of those darker cabinets?!? But that's just my opinion. Have you searched on houzz for the granite you do like? Try it you may see a kitchen that inspires you. Again good luck. : )

Zaz..I pretty much have been searching for days on here. .I do find allot that I love but most of the time, the granite is not named. .Makes it a little harder. ..I do find allot I like, but I'm so plan Jane I'm afraid I'm just playing it to safe...

The granite you show above looks similar (if not the same) as the DVD granite we have. I think it would look really good with the darker cabinets. It's a beautiful stone with gold flecks that light bounces off and goes perfectly with anything that is next to it. I also have the same floor although mine is set in a completely different pattern.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the name of the paint on the walls?

@Alwaysjojo...Which granite are you talking about. . The first one in my pictuers? I would love to see yours if you have a picture ;) my wall color is Behr garden wall...I took that color along with another color (Sandstone) custome made 50% darker throughout the whole house. . I'm not good with getting out of my comfort zone unfortunately.

My cabinet color is much lighter than your's but I really think the darker cabinets would make this top pop. I'm so in love with this granite that I want it in our next house when move.

Hi Susan---for your kitchen I was thinking more along Sienna Cream, Typhoon Bordeaux, and Bordeaux River---stone varies quite a bit, if you see a Persian Gold with a lot of cream, it will work. These are so stunning-they'd be fabulous carried up the wall for the splash...

Have you looked at some of Vetrostone USA countertops? We have a variety of different colors that may help with the WOW factor you are looking for! It is an eco-friendly durable surface containing exotic seashells and sea glass.

Your floors are beautiful but don't settle for boring granite. The sample you're showing is very common and isn't going to have the wow factor you're looking for. Be careful that the veining and pattern in the floor doesn't compete with the counters.

Granite go a light background with gray and black movement. Backsplash a mosaic with black, gray, and stainless, would add some bling. Love what you have done so far. You have good taste trust yourself.

This is what I think I'm going to go with... not sure if it's right until it's done... fingers crossed .It may be a tad darker then I wanted but maybe if I put a lighter back splash it will help. I would love some ideas on backsplash ;) ..As far as that Dark wall on the back of the counter. .. Thinking of painting it a lighter color , light cream or something which will be hard to keep clean OR trying to figure out a way to make it cherry to match the rest of my cabinets.. what do you think?? Other options are welcome too ;)

I have been looking at granite for 2 years now and would suggest you keep it light to contrast the cabinets. Dark will make the space dark.
