Hello Hopgirl7...I just finished a large kitchen project, 80 cabinet doors and 40 drawer fronts, in a large home in Palm Springs CA. The original cabinets were Kraftmaid oak with a white pickled stain...really dated and dreary looking. We ended up using a brushed aluminum thermofoil door and drawer front from Elias Woodwork. We hired a painter to come in and mask and spray the face frames and gables, which was done in 2 days at a cost of approx. $600. We also had him spray the laundry room cabinets as well as the three master suite bath cabinets, including the doors. He used an oil based paint, which resulted in a furniture finish. I think your cabinets would look great in a light color...maybe a cashew color or white. If you changed to a light cabinet color you would probably be satisfied with your quartz countertops. Whatever you do I wish you the best, and please post a before and after pic.

Paint it! You will have a lighter space.

Maybe change the backsplash and put down a colorful rug. I would not paint unless you've always wanted white cabinets. It's your home now don't feel guilty if you do chose to paint.

You've paid your dues by working in the dark for four years, so don't feel guilty. Paint them!






After you paint, you might reconsider whether you need to make the expensive countertop switch. (And take your bits off the top of the cabinets - you can't see them properly and they make the ceiling look low :)

Definitely paint a lighter color.

Your place looks great but it might look better if you removed all the stuff on top of the cabinets and over the window. Also, try a vertical painting instead of the mirror over the console table.

I'm usually the one that says paint the cabinets white but in your case I really like the color they are. Look for easier changes to give your space more personality.
