Well done! The idea of adding atop shelf on both sides of the range is clever, but I would not do that myself, it is now so clean and fresh looking. You lay something up there to mimic the idea to try it out to see what you think. I do like the idea of a desk in the kitchen, in some areas they call it a planning desk. I would love to have spot designated for that in my kitchen. Your kitchen is beautiful.

Don't care for short cabinets. I think they look neater if they go all the way to ceiling. That is just my opinion.

I don't usually like black but open shelves helps that.... also the neutrals. White island.

momof3sms The cabinets are black. They are slightly distressed but hard to see in the pictures. We had it professionally done.

Kristina Michel The back splash is from Lowes. We had our handyman install it. I think they still have it but can't remember the name.

Great improvement! Really like the different heights of upper cabinets above your range. The floating shelves I normally wouldn't suggest but it helps open up your space since you have dark cabinetry.
