Can't comment professionally on the landscaping, but the door and steps are an area that I can help. At first glance I would remove the steps and decorative surround against the door. Once steps are removed you can add a larger front porch and build a roof over the porch with columns, depending on the size of the porch that could be the inviting space for a neighbor to set and talk without going to the back yard.

Paint the door and storm door a bright color that you like since your house is neutral have fun with the color choice be a bit daring. Replace the mailbox, house numbers, and light all in black so they pop against the light color of the house. The trellis stands out more than any of tjing even the door right now. The light should be larger and more interesting in shape.I would add rhodedendrums or other evergreen in addition to to the hydrangeas for more interest year round. This house has a couple ideas that might work for you. I love the storybook cottage feel of your asymmetrical roofline and windows and think you should play on the asymmetry.
In this house they raised the bottom of the Steps into a small patio with a seating area to the side. I think this would work on a smaller scale. Instead of chairs it could be a simple bench set on a smaller area of pea gravel. I also like how the beds curve out away from the house on either end and invite you to the front door. The shape allows you to see the plantings better from inside. You could do this a couple of ways depending on your budget. One way would be to redo the steps and build a wider area at the height of the second or third step breaking up the steps into two sections. The other would be to keep your steps and lay a dry laid stone patio at ground level. In either case you could place a couple of flag stones in the bed by the gate for access. LOVE your backyard! Bring that look to the front - resurface your steps repeating the stone patio in the back. I like the idea of removing the trellis and painting the front door and detail black.
I would round the garden bed under the living room window giving it a softer look. Also like the raised bed with stones to hold the dirt (just like the back). Could add a bench, that is simple and clean, patio furniture may be a bit obtrusive in the front. If you did your backyard yourselves then you know what you are doing! Go for it!

Like the idea of hydrangeas and would put a vertical evergreen on the right side. I'd alsi widen the front walkway. I'd create a small garden framed with box wood and an ornamental tree on the right for you bench.

HI -- Please don't put raised planter beds up against the house -- not a good idea for an older house or any for that matter. I would surround your front steps and patio out an area around the front up to the foundation on each side using the same stone work you already have . Have a curved stone wall , seating height, on each side and then put all your new flowering perrenials in front of the walls. Add some more of the stone to widen your front walk.Now you have a nice welcoming front area for a few patio chairs and some small tables.Then you can have some plant pots sitting on the stone where the old flower beds were. And maybe even a small water fountain under the window on the left side. Plant some trees - one statement tree on the right and three smaller trees on the left. Now for the house -- Get copper put on the little mansard roof over the front door - and if you can, put bigger lanterns on each side of the door and some new railings. Paint the front door a rich emerald green. You don't have to paint the trim but I think it would look great done in a coppery brown . Hope that helps !
