The house is cute- loaded with potential. I love the brick, siding and shutters! I like the colors too. I think the biggest thing is the porch, polish up the landscaping, refresh the paint, and get rid of the screen door (and replace front door if needed). A nice light fixture would add character.

Bush has to go..Shutters have to go..The entire porch...has to go..The front lamp..The rocks..The dinky light on the house ..The asbestos siding gone..the door and screen door..gone and the driveway resurfaced.

    Then:

    Siding above the painted brick
Add a door with side panels
Make it all one color except for the door, paint that a happy color or black
Get a full view screen door
Wind an "S" path that leads to the back of the new lawn lamp
Add a good sized squared federal portico
    Plant stuff
If you must use shutters the shutters should appear as though they would close over the entire window. The ones currently on the home are disproportionate.

Note the portico in the image below.

Note the door should not have windows light is via the sidelights panels

Please remove that big green plant makes the house looks spooky. Go ahead with the porch but I would run the porch all the way across the front of the house. Next I would put vinyl siding on the whole house make it look more up to date. Plant some colorful plants to bring the house to life. First impressions are everything when a potential buyer pulls up to the house. Color of vinyl siding should be a neutral color though so that the plants can stand out.

Also, here is a picture of a house that just sold for $2million with a similar color palette, similar use of materials

The steps should line up with the door. When steps are to the side like that it's hard to bring the furniture inside the door. Or you can have side and front steps. Buyers would really appreciate that.

Invest in some landscaping. Remove the large evergreen plant and replace it with a few (3 or 5) small round boxwood plants... and line them along the side of the steps up to where the existing large bush is. Then add pops of color with small flowering plants beside them.

Totally agree with the above. A covered porch would make the house look less top heavy. No shutters, new windows and a really nice wide front door with attractive outdoor wall mounted light and house number to the right of the front door. Flimsy existing porch over the front door should go and have a direct approach with wide, preferably stone, steps leading up to the front door - not off to one side. Paint all one color Huge bush over the window goes. Attractive landscaping would give it curb appeal.

It's a great Halloween house, because it's certainly "frankensteinian" when it comes to having been pieced together.
I find myself wondering if the door is a Craftsman door, and could it be original to the house? Do you know when the house was built? If it is an old Craftsman house, if you wanted to spend the money, you could probably recoup it by returning to looking like a Craftsman, at least on the exterior-which is what you said you wanted to fix, anyway.
The million dollar house shown is certainly done in a Craftsman style.
Of course, the door could be just one that was acquired as salvage somewhere along the line, and is just a further example of what a conglomeration it is. One thing, though, I would say that the second story doesn't seem to be original. If it is, it sure was done badly, IMO.
