what about the hood? i love your chandelier, but it is getting lost here, all the details are blending its bugging me because i know this is a pretty fixture i would have hung it a smidge higher too. pull the gray out of the counters, that will go well with the room. and tie the counters in pull the veining out.

How about Ben Moore's Sea Salt/6204? I was just in a home with that color in the Kitchen today and it reminded me how pretty that shade is.

@deCocco Design - I think the Sea Salt color is Sherwin-Williams. The similar color from Ben Moore would maybe be Healing Aloe.

love the sink! I would suggest a light grey paint color for your walls just like the picture fair lighting posted of the bathroom.

I read an article years ago in House Beautiful, I think it was. One of the color suggestions for dark stained cabinets or furniture was BM Wyeth Blue. Take a peek at that one.

If you would be hired as the interior designer for the family kitchen to be updated, what would you change...only interns if paint color on walls and cabinetry?

all the blues look great - gray would not do a thing for the room.

Pashmina is nice. I'm reluctant to agree with any cool grays or strong blues, so am voting for Pashmina, Sea Salt or a very warm (taupey) gray. Paint big swatches on the wall - 2-3 coats - and live with the colors for a couple of days. Let your heart have the last word!

I think a warm gray could be very pretty like in the picture posted by flair lighting. Your counters seem to have a lot of gray in them. Beautiful kitchen!

I would probably change the perimeter cabinetry to a warm white, and leave the island and other trim the current espresso color.

And definitely a muted spa blue on the walls! Love Judy's suggestion of Wyeth Blue too. Palladian Blue also comes to mind.

First, your kitchen is gorgeous and that Calcutta gold is amazing! I would do whites like wherein Williams Maison Blanche on walls and snowbound for the ceiling.

If you asked for my opinion on the entire kitchen, I would suggest you change the sink and the appliances to stainless; change out the chandy ( it is lovely but too dainty for the kitchen), paint the walls a darker color (to help bring height to the room as right now the cabs do not go to the ceiling); take everything off the island (no need to decorate) and if possible add a couple of counter stools so people could sit, chat and have a glass of wine while you cook.

What we don't see enough of is the family room next to the kitchen, I do not like looking at the back of the sofa...open that area up to your cooking space.
