Water damage replacement floor

So now they are replacing my floors due to water damage. I like the handscraped. Do you use the same wood on the stairs?

Yep. That way you have a seamless look and it doesn't look "off". Unless you'd rather carpet or tile on the steps.

If the coloring is the same, don't hesitate to put distressed floors and smooth steps.

I agree with having smooth, flat stairs and keep the scraped look on the floor. Stairs are more likely to need refinishing sooner (IME) and its easier to scuff-sand and re-poly if it's a flat stair tread.

Solid wood stair treads can be hand scraped in a very similar way that wood floors are scraped. Keep the surface irregularities shallow enough so as not to create a safety issue.

Yep it good to use the same but you have to stop the water that come to the floor and start damaging. If you fail to keep constant watch on any of this leakage, you can easily get caught in the trap of a huge water damage restoration cost.
