I recommend luxury vinyl tiles in a wood pattern.......Look at Armstrong and there are other brands out there. It will hold up well with accidents and scratchy paws...

I would use a high quality wood-like laminate. It is recommended for hard use.

We have 2 big dogs and installed a laminate that looks like slate have had it for 8 yrs with not one scratch I love it and now a few of our friends have liked it so much they have it in differnt colors.

Thank you, thank you! Really appreciate the advice. I had the same advice from a local pro, but was feeling hesitant, think I just had some unfounded snobbyness against laminate, but those photos of your living room are gorgeous!

With two large black dogs, I had to get rid of our white carpet. My poor husband came home from a business trip to sub floor (explosive canine diarrhea can make a girl snap) , so I feel it's my duty to find the best possible solution.

We are past the puppy piddle stage, but when they get into something, it comes without warning :)
