I'm an Artist that has recently purchased a condo built in 1975 and renovated around 1995. Needless to say I'm on an extreme budget but I need to eventually redo everything eventually. I have completed the Master where the stone coloured berber was still OK. The rest of the unit has mid tone laminate, the bathroom has dark sage tile and all the trim is light cherry which I eccentrically want to preserve because I love the french doors into the guest bedroom cum Art studio which are that colour and match the connecting door from the Master into the walk in wardrobe. (actually they are one of two or three reasons for buying the condo). The main walls are very pale grey and light lime to offset my art work which is displayed for clients and gallery owners throughout the unit. I haven't painted the studio yet, but I'm thinking of carrying the light lime in there. The whole impression I want it to rip out the dowdy and make a blank slate with a slightly edgy feel, eg the strip chandelier in the entrance hall.
My quandry is that the carpet in the bedroom/art studio needs changing. I doubt I could find matching laminate to carry through the french doors into the studio from the lounge. I also doubt I could match the berber in the master or the sage tile of the bathroom or terracotta of the balcony (yeah I know). I'm not crazy about putting carpet in the studio anyway, I like the idea of stripping to bare concrete but condo regulations wont allow it. I need something practical which will pull the theme together. Hmmmm
