Updating the exterior of a 1950's ranch

We moved in to this untouched, 50's bungalow on the street I grew up on. We were so fortunate to find a property in this area we loved, but the exterior, complete with vertical and horizontal siding, a tiny porch, and miniature door definitely needed an update. Progress on the yard is slow, as we only live at this house 3 months of the year, but it's definitely come a long way!

It's crazy what some paint, landscaping and small porch can do to the appeal.

Great job! What I love is how the entrance is the focal point now. Before my eye went right to the awning. I never even noticed how nice and large the front/left window was, I went back to check if it was new. Really nice.... Enjoy! :)

Yes, the siding is in the colour "smokestone" by the company Vytec. We did not paint the siding. The door also camed stained and we picked a wood stain to match the door for the porch.

Looks great! We are in the process of siding our house. Contractor is just waiting on us to choose a color. We wanted a darker grey with some grain. Is smokestone a true grey ? It seems to have some brown tone's in it. Thanks!

Thanks so much, appreciate it. DEFINITELY if you can put it next to your roof colour and see it in the sun/evening light and/or drive by a house with the same colour siding it is worth it. We had to drive to another town to do it and in the shade their house had a blueish colour to it. Ours gets direct sunlight from 9-230 in the summer and it looks almost green grey then. Hope that helps!
