Thank you very much for the advice. I agree with you on all the stuff on the mantle and floor by fireplace. Between you and me, my wife likes nick-nacks and I prefer simplicity. I like the idea of art on either side of fireplace. Do you think I should put tv over fireplace or leave it where it's at? Thanks for the compliment on the furniture.

Do not put the TV over the fireplace..... it works where you have it now and you can still enjoy the fireplace. It would be way too clustered with the height of the room.

I love your wall color. Room is looking good. I think the tv looks fine where it is, but I do like the tv mounted over the fireplace, I think others disagree. I see it as the best of both worlds, you can see both. I'm sure I'm gonna here it for that. lol :) My only suggestion, bring some light to the left side of the room, a lamp. Not sure if you have a table by the chair to the left, but it would balance the light in the room. Good luck, great space! :)

Thanks again for the advice. I think I will listen and leave tv where it's at. The room actually has a lot more light as I have a lamp behind our sectional but it wasn't turned on at the time and it was night out which is why it looks so dark in the room. Thanks for the compliments tho!

The room seems very dark to me. Fireplace is too busy with small deco. I see a large,tall dark space on another wall. Is that a window with dark drapes or is it a dark wooden door or piece of furniture? Room needs some balance. A chair facing the end of the sofa is not facing the conversation area or the TV, if that's the purpose.

I would raise the TV up higher by putting it in the corner on the wall, or replacing the TV furniture base with a taller one. (THE CURRENT BASE COULD SIT ON SOMETHING AS INEXPENSIVE AS PAINTED CONCRETE BLOCKS. use paint the same color as the furniture base.)

The opposite corner has only a chair in it. Place a tall tree or plant beside the chair to help balance the height around the room. Texture will help soften all the hard scape. Clean off the mantle and place a longer than tall bright picture there. Perhaps LARGE flowers for spring or winter wreath for Christmas time. A dark or bright area rug on your lighter carpet will help anchor the space in front of the fireplace since you don't have a hearth. Use large baskets or boxes filled with appropriate deco to keep you smiling when you walk into your room and see the fireplace first. A few canned ceiling lights on dimmers would be a plus. Too many knick-nacks makes it difficult to know what to focus on. Maybe a few shelves in the laundry room or mud room is a place wife could enjoy seeing them often. Especially those meaningful memories.
One more thing: Crown molding would help too. :)
