Why not a hall tree? They are lots of designs; look under products for ideas. They are smart and practical.
Or a small console with a lamp; since you have electricity right there. Be sure to hang something tall enough to fill in the space. A mirror with a antique brass or tortoise shell frame as you need some texture.
What of a padded bench under the window? If you are handy enough, do a tailored valance over the window and use the same fabic for the bench and create a runner for the console table on the other wall. Use the same fabric for pillows for the couch...

An assorted gallery wall could be fun. They have loads of personality and evolve right along with you. A combination of mirrors, prints, photographs and art could be quite charming.



If you're looking for something a little more mainstream, a slim floor mirror would reflect light.

A padded bench with a mirror, photo or art above it would be nice, and one of them should have a bit of color to it, like red, turquoise or orchid, to make it pop in the room.

I wouldn't add any furniture to that space as it will most likely look to crowded, however some artwork in matching with your home decore would be great. I would fill that wall!!! Either with 1 or 2 large pieces or several small ones!

I think a small console or demi-lune table with a pair of candlestick lamps and a mirror above it would give you a sense of entry and provided a nice function for people entering and exiting the house. The demi-lune, with its rounded front, would be the best option in terms of traffic flow and not blocking the door way too much. If it had a drawer in it, so much the better, but a small open basket for keys and such would also work.

You're getting great feedback, I like a demi lune with a piece of art over it (or a demi lune bench). Some color will be fantastic right there, and the demi lune makes so much sense for function.

If this is your main entrance my answer is TOTALLY different and involves a charging area, a purse hook, etc....

Keeping it simple can add a lot. So I would choose one idea from these suggestions: either hang a single rectangular mirror concept, a metal art rectangular in shape, rectangular tapestry with vibrant colors or a leather rectangular tapestry to be hung perpendicular to fill the length of the wall. Providing some pictures of suggested concepts. Doesn't matter front or back door interest throughout a home is a good thing.

Since this is a back door area and your room has a rather casual feel, why not put together a Rogues' Gallery of your family. It would make for nice memories and can be changed out as time goes on.

I would also recommend some type of hall tree. Since there isn't much of a foyer area, this will add needed storage and look nice and add to the decor of your room.

Personally I feel a piece of furniture so close to the back door will obstruct physically and visually. Even a demi-lune will be too much. I noticed yet another cabinet or chest to the right of the wall. I believe we will have too much furniture. As for hooks for coats, etc., that becomes a catch all area and can become quite unsightly.

I would want a 3/4" demi lune glass table that floats with a demilune ottoman. Seeing this the the main entrance, when you walk in you can't have sharp angles...I would place a fun mirror, something that is organic in shape. I like function. So this being a dual function sapce, you can put your house keys and cell phone there. The small demi lune bench may come in handy if someone needs to sit and put a show on. You don't want sharp corners when you enter...especially turning the corner from entry. This would be great feng shui.

i think a small apothecary . Keys, . sun glass's if there is a pet leashes ect ect. Would add alot of interest with alot of little drawers.. A mirror above it or beautiful art piece picking up some of the colors in your pillows or furniture.

I may be mistaken but I believe this wall is at the back door, not the front door. I believe she just wanted to "address" the wall with something decorative to fill the space.

a collage of different sized family pics and travel pics...start so that you have room at the top and at the bottom for future additions.

It would be nice to tie the window/door wall into the decor on the angled wall. A small bench with rounded corner under the window with a matching cornice or Roman shades on door and window and a long mirror with a dark frame on the angled wall to reflect whatever color is in the room . If your furniture is dark, you need to warm up that entire corner and not just one wall. Texture is important. Consider hanging a long dark rug or quilt with a picture light above it for evening ambiance. I hope you share a photo when it is done.

May I suggest an old pine chest with a longish mirror above to make the space look bigger and a cushion cld be put on the chest for sitting and removing shoes...
