I'm in the midst of planning a full condo reno. The lynch pin of the reno lies with the kitchen wall that separates the kitchen from the main living /dining space. I have a feeling that the wall is load bearing but i need to find the right resource to tell me definitively whether it is or not. If it is, what are my options (he says to no one in particular)? I am assuming I will have to get in a structural engineer to give me the skinny and my options. Additionally I assume the engineer will need access to the building plans. Are those the kind of thing that are easily obtainable? I am not sure if anyone on Houzz can really help but it was cathartic to write it down and send it into the universe.
