What was wrong with it before? Good shape nice character, just need some restoration and paint. New is not always better.

I think it looks nice and I'm glad you're happy with it. But I do agree with one of the other posters that it could also have been updated w/o taking out the pink/peach tile. New hardware, glass enclosure, etc. I can see the old glass door knob in the before pic - I'm wondering if this room now fits the rest of the house. Maybe I'm just getting old and like to hang on to the past a bit. ? :)

It is very lovely and looks great, but I wonder why you didn't make it ADA compliant when you did that extensive of a renovation? Hopefully no one in your family will ever require the use of one.......but it is something people should keep in mind, even young people have accidents! While you can purchase suction handrails having a threshold over 1/4" high and too narrow of a shower door, can keep a person in a wheelchair out of the shower

How do we feel about a home without a bathtub? I have this same tiny bathroom that hasn't been updated since 1938. It's the only bathroom in the house. We'd love to put in a walk in shower like the featured bath, but it means no tub in the house.

There were no major plumbing changes as the new fixtures are in the same place as before but it is a significant facelift. Like others, I would like to know the full cost of the reno.

My one and only bathroom is about the size as the one in this project (that I love). I pulled out my bathtub last year and am truly enjoying my walk-in shower. Since I have lived in my condo for 20 years and plan on staying at least another 10, I am more concerned with my decor fitting my taste and needs rather than worrying about future resale value. Most units in my 90-year-old building are gutted when new buyers come in anyway.

I think it would have been more fun (and creative) to have worked with the existing pink tile. This now looks like every other bath reno out there.

I may not be a "Pro", but I certainly know vintage bathrooms. That tub was original. That vanity was not. I had one like it as a kid when my parents changed out our bathroom in the 60's I understand ripping that vanity & sink out....but rip out the tub too??

OUTSTANDING JOB! For all of you who are yawning and complaining about not saving the pink tiles - get real! How can you possibly not want to jump into this lovely new space and enjoy a great shower???? The wood on the vanity is very upscale and a piece of art on it's own, the use of a full skirted toilet w/water saver is pretty and practical - and I think you could get several people into that shower but why not lock the door and enjoy it all to yourself??? If you have to have pink - I believe they make pink towels :)

Hey KR...that's YOUR opinion. We are all entitled to have one, last time I checked.

To point fingers at others that you disagree with is a bit much, especially when this isn't your project. When folks (including myself) post our own projects, we are all expecting a wide gamut of comments. We're all big kids here, we can take it. This is a beautiful bathroom makeover! The walk in shower looks very inviting and the minimal shower door hardware is great. The vanity is a nice piece that stands out from the rest of the bathroom.

The only thing this bathroom is missing is a nice towel warmer for when you step out of the shower.

I was a little sad to see the pink tile go... You did a very nice job with the space. The color selection is beautiful and that walk in shower looks so inviting!

Great work! I especially love the wall color you chose. Your choices really made the space feel bigger. Impressive. We had a customer do a similar design concept to this (see below), but I really think the colors you chose made this extra special. Warm and cool at the same time!

Thirty years ago everyone I know was renovating Victorian townhouses that had been remodeled and 'updated', desperately trying to find original anything to return to the original aesthetic of the house. EMBRACE THE PAST. The subway tile will look incredibly dated in a few years "SO 'teens!" If you want new and modern, live in a new house but leave the original materials for those of us who love the quality and uniqueness of age. Stop watching stupid home shows that tear down rather than appreciate what is there. If cared for, a half century old bathroom will last another half-century; things were durable then.

I really am sorry to see subway tile now overused to the point where it's just another fad. They were widely used for decades, and would work in my 1930 house renovation; they were part of Art Deco. But I'll probably go with something else just because I am so tired of seeing them slapped on everything whether suitable or not.

Beautiful! I am sure the former owners loved their pink bathroom, but I love your new bathroom! The subway tile is classic without all that pink.
