Need help with living room

I am in need of help with my living room. I have a light blue-green couch (looks more grey in pictures) with gold-green accent chairs. My favorite pieces in the room are the painting above the couch and the side lamps. I am stuck trying to figure out an area rug that will coordinate. I am considering moving the gold-green chairs to another room and replacing with some other accent chairs - maybe some chocolate brown leather swivel chairs? The other issue is figuring out the size of the rug to get. The room is about 17 feet wide (from couch to TV on opposite wall), but the walkway is through the center of the room. So, I am not sure whether or not to extend the rug across the whole room or only under the seating furniture. Suggestions?

Can we see a photo of the TV wall? I would like to see the picture you love centered and lower on that wall with the lamps on either side to really show it off. Right now, everything looks off center. The smaller picture needs to be hung lower.

I can't see how anyone can watch tv with the furniture arranged like that.

I like your pieces including the rug. Some patterned pillows will bring it all together.

Just not sure about that arrangement.

I agree that the art needs to be moved down a little. The furniture arrangement seems to be too cramped. Could you move the chairs so they are opposite the couch, facing it? I know you said that it's a thoroughfare there but maybe having to walk around just a little wouldn't be so bad?

Here is a photo facing across the room. A new TV stand is on my list to get. I agree about hanging the artwork lower. It is actually on my list of things to do! I am frustrated with the arrangement, but if I rotate the chairs to face the couch they block the entryway into the neighboring room and also would have their backs to the tv. I am going to play with rotating the couch 90 degrees. Any suggestions on an area rug that would go?

I think the lamps are too large as is. Could you reconfigure them and use the base as floor lamps ? Then use them in opposite corners of the room instead of symmetrical? Then I would paint the wood on the side tables. Perhaps the base color of the lamps. I would add some smaller artwork along with the small painting to balance out the size of the larger painting. I would pick a rug from a color in the lamps. Perhaps the greens or blues.

Maybe you could buy a smaller lamp harp and small shades if you truly love the lamps

The lamps are massive, overpowering and out of proportion to your furniture. They are very oriental, so play with getting a smaller harp and shade for them, picking up on the Asian style. This chart should help you size them down visually. Here are some shade styles that would give them a more Asian feeling.
