Semi-frameless sliding door is the best option.

We have sliding water glass shower doors. They were installed by previous owners so i have no idea of what brand they are. We like them. Easy to keep clean. Just squeezie after every shower and they blur the vision very much so 2 people can share the bathroom. The only fault i found in them (and it's a very minor issue) that they were not installed with solid stainless screws so they eventually rusted out.

are you saying you are going to remove the tubs and go with showers only? The stainless will cost you much more than chrome but well worth it in that chrome finishs today easily chip and peel. If you think you will be replacing them again in say, three years, then chrome hopefully would not be a problem. I do recommend a squegee to remove water standing on the glass. Some companies like Kohler have a 10 year guarantee on the glass remaining clear. Of course, I don't put much stock in warranties anymore but its a string of hope anyway, Depending on your decor style, there is the fluted look, or the rain look, several to choose from. Home Depot has taken on a highly rated new company that used to be strictly a marine company. I am stumped on the name now that I am trying to recall it...hate it when that happens!!! arrrrggggh! BTW, using Rainex or Never Wet prior to first use and thereafter for preventative measures will keep it looking nearly perfect. Let me see if I can find some ideas for you. I splurged on the thicher glass this alst time and I LOVE it. Much better it seems for remaining stable. Lemon oil on the stainless helps water just run right off without leaving spots.

Personaly, I wouldn't remove the bath tubs. I remember me as being i kid. I was rough on me and i needed a tub to soak in once in a while. ToDate, i'm liking walk in showers....but tell the truth i see the virtues of a bathtub to soak in once in a while

I hate our shower doors with their nasty frames, they look bad even after scrubbing. The doors crowd the space. Easier to bath kids without a door. Shower curtains are easy to throw in the wash or throw away when too grungy. They can be decorative while hiding kids toys ,etc. when room used as a guest powder room.

With teens maybe glass isn't the best way to go. what about six inch rise for the entrance and just use a shower curtain?

My shower growing up had sliding doors which never slid properly and they were a pain thus I like the idea of a shower curtain. Do you have any photos you can share? Given the size of the bathrooms and the fact there is a Towel rack on the way, I don't think I can use a door as I would have to have the towel rack removed (see picture).

Regarding the Home Depot kits, I would highly recommend getting a quote for a custom option from a reputable glass company, just in case. Kits simply do not fit as well as custom units, and you are unlikely to get Chinese-made replacement parts. MANY times clients have said my prices for supply & install were less for custom than HD's kits when labor was factored in. And a better quality shower will have better quality chroming etc.

A good budget solution is a custom "semi" frameless slider, that look nice & won't break the bank. Plus they last for years and years.
