Would rather see a narrow console table with drawers to put things away in. You could even place a nice decorative bowl on top the table or baskets on the floor below to store things inside. A large mirror or painting hanging above would be nice.

I would remove them. It looks cluttered. Get a console table and a mirror above it.

Looks like you have a beautiful home by the looks of the entrance, EXCEPT for the purse hangers?? sorry, it looks cheap amongst everything else.

OH and the console idea with a bench under would disquise the vent;)

You have handbags hanging there and side lite windows. A thief would be tempted to break in to see if you had any bags with critical info in them. Just plain shelving over a table with doors might be better. Or just the table with art over it. actually would look best.

Hmmm... not sure whether yes means keep or go but I vote to go with something different. I understand the concept but perhaps it would be put to better use in a mud room or by the back door?

You have wonderful potential with that area but I'm afraid the current configuration lacks a focal point upon which the eye can rest. The console table suggestions are good ones. It's a pity that the builder put that upper vent in such an inconvenient spot. Unless the vent provides more heating/cooling than it appears to, I would be tempted to close it and cover it with a large vertical canvas. Then you could add a low bench to camouflage the lower return (I'm guessing?) as, I believe, Margo suggested. Good luck!

I would get rid of them as they don't match in the sense of proportion to the large hallway. I would also prefer a slim console table if possible (if door doesn't bang it when opened). You should also put a door stopper on the floor to protect the door going too far back and hitting anything.

Hi. I recognize your horse and white item... so I have to agree that with your grand ceiling height and windows, it doesn't lean toward that look... seems country cottage which might be your thing?

I would get rid of it, it doesn't go with the rest of your living room from what I can see.
