If you go to the Houzz home page and look on the right hand side just a little beneath the top feature picture you'll see a green "write a review" link.

i used houzz for my contracting business. I was not happy with my account. I was being charged over and over again for leads that were out of the country! Multiple times i requested to cancel my account! Jacob Zavita was my manager for my account. I contacted him several times about my situation and conpletely ignored me. I had to cancel my credit card to stop the automatic payments. He left me on read multiple times and only contacted me about payments. Will never use houzz again as a contractor for leads!

I hired Rod Coslett (Cousins, Inc) to rebuild my fence. Overall, the finished fence looks very nice, but the final invoice was a shock. During the project, we discussed changes such as going from open to solid slats, going from 4.5' height to 6' height (requiring extra posts, but no change to the 6' boards that were purchased) and fixing some mistakes that he made. I understood that these changes would have some cost associated with them so I requested change orders or written estimates. Rod told me that the cost would not be much and not worth his time to write a change order. Imagine my surprise when the final cost (pre-tax) was 55% more than the original bid (pre-tax). I did the math to try and figure out how he got these numbers and I couldn't get close to his totals. When I requested receipts or an itemized breakdown of the additional charges, he was rude and refused to provide them. When I tried to negotiate the cost based on my calculations he threatened to put a lien on my house if I did not send the money immediately. I ended up just sending the payment, but it left me feeling like I had been taken advantage of. Overall, this was an unpleasant experience for me and I wish I had been more persistent in asking for change orders before approving work.

Utterly ridiculous that one has to do a search to find out how to do a review on this site. Someone needs to do a redesign of user features!

    Bryce Hines Red flags:

    -Directly criticizes competitors by name.

-Lays it on thick with hollow, insincere, compliments about anything and everything.

-Comes across like a shady used car salesman (bad vibe/energy).

-I had to point out multiple, obvious errors on invoice.

-Disappears once the work begins and communication begins to fade away.

-Repeatedly asked for good reviews before the work had begun or was completed.

-Didn't have a method to pay offering consumer protection. After it was requested, added fees to the total.

-Marked up RETAIL prices from Lowe's by 100 - 200%, then disingenuously added a "discount" to the invoice for the appearance of a "deal".

-Doesn't seem to have a business set up, uses personal telephone, home address, no website, no reviews, isn't listed as the registered agent for the business.

-Formerly associated with Hines Family Flooring but mentioned that venture didn't pan out due to disagreements with his brothers.

2/24/2024 had flooring and stair treads installed.
Workers banged on the upstairs flooring so hard, that lightbulbs unscrewed from the fixtures downstairs. Nails popped through the downstairs ceiling and drywall cracked.

Nothing was covered and the entire upstairs and downstairs was coated in carcinogenic dust.

Workers did not use any safety glasses, gloves, or even use safe sawing procedures. A neighbor saw one worker using a circular saw to cut flooring lengthwise along his thigh.

Workers cut flooring on front porch with the door open, shooting carcinogenic sawdust into the house and all over the landscaping.

2/25/2024 Raised concerns about the quality, visible defects, and durability the next day. Was told by Bryce that he would be out to look at the issues but that never happened. Bryce was contacted numerous times, viewed text messages and did not respond.

4/29/2024, filed a dispute with PayPal.

5/10/2024, received a call from Bryce and his business partner Derek Coblentz of DRC Concrete.

Bryce quickly became defensive, claimed to have "all of the text messages", had "recorded this entire conversation" and had "retained an attorney" the previous day. Bryce also said that he never received a one star review before, and that he had received a large amount of new work after posting images of the stairs on Facebook.

Derek had to tell him to "shut the hell up" so that he could speak with us.

Later that day, Derek came to the house, apologized for Bryce and went over my concerns about the stairs. He agreed to come back and remove the stairs, refinish and reinstall them.

There wasn’t any mention or discussion of the PayPal dispute.

After Derek left, he called me and said that his "installer" told him that there's no way to remove the stairs without damaging them and the best way would be to sand and refinish the stairs without them being removed. I reluctantly agreed.

On 5/12/2024, at nearly 10:00pm, Derek sent a text message saying that he noticed that the dispute was still pending with PayPal, it had to be canceled by midnight, and they couldn’t refinish the stairs with the dispute pending.

Apparently, Bryce and Derek were under the impression that I would be happy with their expressed intentions (not actions) and cancel the PayPal dispute.

On the morning of 5/13/2024, after seeing Derek’s text message, I replied that after Bryce’s reaction and statements on 5/10/2024, I felt that it was premature to cancel the dispute.

Derek replied stating that I was adamant about using PayPal so that I could complain and get money back after the work was done. LSF and its owners CANNOT BE TRUSTED.
