From this one picture I can't tell whether there are any cans over the island that are useful for prep work and the like -- if not, then a pendant might be useful. The only other reason is because they can make a nice accent, bringing a little style out into the otherwise bare middle of the room. But it's up to you -- it's your kitchen! :))

Yes, better task light at the island and the room needs some warmth, looks a bit cold and sterile.

A beautiful crystal chandelier

I would put a nice and simple chandelier but with bulbs that have a filament. I have seen these funky filament bulbs in restaurants in London so we invested in developing an LED filament bulb. I would add tiered pendants to break up the straight lines and have some fun with it - perhaps with some sparkle or interesting shapes...

Adding pendants above the island would bring a little more style into the space. Right now, its coming along nicely but doesn't look very inviting or personalized. Adding pendants above the island will add some warmth also. Are your LED lights on dimmers?

I would add the pendants. You could even get them in something that would add a splash of color to the room! I definitely think you need more task lighting if you're going to work a lot on that island.

How about a cluster of blown or fused glass pendants? You definitely need more light, but I feel the room is also missing something.

Pendants. You can see that the island top is dark, once you are standing in front of it doing some detailed work, you will notice increased shadowing. The increased shadowing will be the result of you blocking the light due to it being "behind" you. I hope that this makes sense.
