Kitchen Update

After 11 years in our condo, it was time for a refresh. We are very pleased with the result thanks to our collaboration with Wharton Interiors.

Looks great! Did you replace the knobs? It's hard to tell in the image.

Thank you for the kind comments. Yes, Gilmans K&B we changed out the cabinetry hardware to brushed brass to compliment the champagne bronze faucet. We also have a brushed brass dining room light. The space is open concept so it works nicely together.

Awesome color choice for the cabinets - would you please share the name ?

liked it better before with the exception of the very dark back splash

We painted the cinnamon stained maple cabinetry as we wanted a new and updated look. We chose an Asian Maple hardwood flooring (formerly ceramic tile in the kitchen). It was a nice compliment to the renewed cabinetry. In real life it is quite lovely. We saved a lot of money by keeping the existing cabinetry.

Our designer suggested the Benjamin Moore Escarpment for the paint color for the cabinetry. We went with the London Grey Caesarstone Quartz counters with an undermount white cast iron sink. The backsplash is simple white subway tile but, by extending it to the ceiling, it has a great impact.

I would have left the wood cabinets, and changed up everything else.

I like it, very nice. The cabinets are a great color. I like that the door matches the cabinet color too. Good luck and enjoy your nice bright kitchen! :)

Very nice. And thank you for taking the before and after pics from the same location. It's so much easier to see the difference.

looks nice - glad to see a color other than white for the cabinets. I'm hoping when it's time for me to do renovations white is out! :)

Absolutely lovely! You might consider painting the yellow door (entry?) the same colour to tie in the space. Well done.

Absolutely beautiful! I really appreciate the fact that you painted your cabinets for an update, rather than ripping them out - and I love the colour you've chosen. The new colour, along with the white counter and backsplash and appliances, makes the whole space so bright and fresh. I also love the use of the brushed brass for the hardware, it's unexpected and looks lovely with the cabinets and the stainless appliances. Such a great job!

The cabinet finish is great but, how can one use the stove without counter space on each side. Also the stove next to the fridge is not very efficient as the heat from the stove will transfer to the fridge and cause excessive power usage. Not very well thought out.

I really like this kitchen. The colors in here make the kitchen look bigger and clean looking. Fabulous makeover!

There was nothing wrong with your old kitchen, but dark wood in a small area certain can make a small area look smaller. Love how the grey and white really open up the space. And the reflective surface of the stainless really adds to the feeling of space. Very nice work.

Enjoy cooking in the updated kitchen this holiday season!

We have the same color cabinets and are thinking of a change. This gives me inspiration. I love the updated look.

What a transformation! I'm not usually a fan of painting wooden cabinets like yours but you've brought the room to life with gray of all colors! That claustrophobic darkness is now a welcoming beacon as all kitchens should be. You've managed to accomplish a wonderful change with things I usually don't like at all. I'm just amazed!

I love how light and fresh this feels. I think you did a fantastic job of working with what you already had in place. As you have shown, a fresh coat of paint and new counter top can completely transform a kitchen. The addition of the new plumbing fixtures, hardware and upgraded appliances really brighten it up even more - great selections!

What a change! A little upgrade can change so much! Did you use an underlayment or backerboard? http://www.allurausa.com/products/backerboard
