The drawing is a bit faded to see clearly the cabinets outline, but there seems to have too many jots and angles with the plan.

The existing plan shows no true work space, every corner has a opening or door, Kitchen need to be designed without traffic going through every inch

It looks like this plan needs definite help, but it is impossible to give helpful advice as it is too hard to see. Can you print it darker and then scan it in?

Due to the nature of the room - I would probably design this with narrow tall and low storage all around any walls /under windows with a large Fridge on one wall - than have a massive work island with sinks - prep areas and cooking area - so pretty much everything goes on on the island - more like some industrial kitchens ! Drop me a line if you'd be interested in taking this idea further !

Well usually simpler, stronger statements are grander. For instance from the dining room it appears (and it is very difficult to see your plan clearly) that you are looking across an island in the kitchen toward what? What ever you are viewing across the kitchen should be a grand set of windows and a view, or the stove, or cook top built into a grand hearth.
A beautiful set of Wall of china cabinets...in other words a focal point.

It could be, but it to me looks like it is broken up into single window or door and then a double window or a cabinet or two.. The space can be utilitarian and grand at the same time.

Make sure you are happy with the floorplan. EVERY square foot is going to cost you a bit of money, so don't be pennywise and pound foolish on your design. Make sure IT IS a design that you feel comfortable with and makes you happy.

Remember the design IS the most important thing... I hope this helps :o)

Thank you all for your advice! I will try and scan darker and post again. Also, my husband has redrawn plans on grap paper. Moved/ eliminated 2 doors. Turned island facing stove & made it larger.... 4 x7. We have also extended dining by 2ft by " stealing " 2 ft from room next to it.

Okay, I think I have darkened the picture. I do like the range where it is. I would like to slide the mudroom door to the left of the range. We would also like to turn the island to face the oven, and enlarge it. place 30 inch sink centered under double windows. Dishwasher to the left because I am left-handed.that's all I can think of for now, thank you so much!!!

What do you think of my suggestions? Turning the island, and for any closer. 3 1/2 foot perimeter. Forgot to mention we will also remove the back door that is in between the counters

So am I understanding correctly, the door on the lower left of the layout will be removed and the el shape will be there? I think turning the island is a good idea but I still think you have a lot of steps between everything. Also if you remove this door how would you access your yard?

Yes, removing door. We can go through french door in next room or out mudroom door. We live in NJ, we grill 3 months out of year. Here is pic to show floor plans

    Sorry! Wrong pic!
