Remodeling my kitchen

Hi my name is simone I just brought my home and I'm remodeling the kitchen but I would like some help in back splash and counter tops. I just pick out cabinets the color is a light tan however I'm confused of what I should make the focal point in the kitchen. The counter top or the back splash. Please give me some ideas...

Hi again, most on houzz will say that the counter is a bigger expense, so that should be the focus. I think one.... either counter or backsplash should be interesting. But not compete for attention. :)

Ok gotcha I will make the counter top the focus, however when picking out a counter top should I darker or lighter.

I think that depends on your flooring choice and also what you're preference is. :)

You could go darker or lighter, what do you prefer? Have you searched on Houzz for inspiration? Maybe find something that catches your eye? :)
