If you're set on having this style, then I vote for the light one, painted gray like the wall above it. If not, maybe consider a pedestal sink that works with the design of the toilet, and shows off the wainscoting.

@Ann - I just did that color myself in Photoshop. I believe RH has a similar color called Gravel.

@linjofulch, unfortunately I can't do a pedestal sink because the way the bathroom was built, the water lines are coming from the floor. The only way around it would be to rip up a bunch of tile, and the tile is new (newer house) and I want to re-use it. Painting is definitely an option if I get either of these home and don't like it. I also thought about white paint to match the beadboard.

I wonder if I got the light one and wanted to go dark stain, if these pieces are stainable? Sometimes it's tough to know without seeing it in person in the room.

I think it depends on what the rest of the room looks like. The light one looks a little more country/rustic to me, and the black a little more modern/sophisticated. A matter of personal preference, as well as the style of other elements in the room. On the other hand, if you purchased the light one and later changed your mind, you could always paint it. Not true for the other choice. But, since you asked, I like the dark one.

I have some restoration hardware pieces and they definitely seem to have a kind of waxy finish on them, so staining could be tricky, especially with that door style. I agree with flopsycat1 about the light one looking a bit more country and to me your kitchen has a rather sophisticated look. I'm hoping you choose the dark one, lol:). And, for that price, I think you'd be foolish to pass it up - I think it's really nice!

The lighter one works better with the adjoining room, if that is a concern for you, but the dark one makes a bolder statement.

I would suggest to rethink whole idea. Love the kitchen! Carry kitchen style into bathroom. If paneling is must, may be somethink other than beadboard.

why not find something with the same finish as your kitchen cabinets, I don't really think the style you chose matches the other room.

Still holding out hope for the dark one. It would be so nice with a white marble-ish floor.

I'm partial to dark woods. But in this case I believe the light wood works better.

Love the dark one. That stated, I tend to be practical (aka...lazy) and wouldn't want to have to DUST all those small black shutters every couple of days. But for looks alone? The DARK one.

Don't let the price drive you into making a design error. You need something more transitional, with the warmer colors of te kitchen pulled in. And no white wainscottnng. The two style directions you show could not be further apart. They need to flow better.

If this is a powder room, the bathroom can stand on it's own. Be creative and fun;) If you choose this RH vanity, my vote would go to the dark. Have you checked Home Decorator's, they have some units;)

Well, the powder room is a great place to express your personality. I think I would get more creative than this RH vanity, look for some *wow* factor.;)

I got wood samples from RH today. Their new Greenwich store is amazing. If only I had an unlimited budget. The black oak is REALLY black. I guess I was hoping for more of an "espresso" black. The weathered oak is a little less "honey" than in this photo, and a little more neutral. I also picked up a grey color, but the problem with grey is that I want to do grey walls and it might clash if it's too close.

@Margo - Make sure to turn the fan on when you "express your personality" or you may get tooo much "*WOW* factor"

Well, if you like the gray and haven't painted yet, you could get the gray one and then choose the paint color making sure you didn't clash. Maybe by going a bit blue/gray or green/gray. There are a heck of a lot more paint colors than RH stain options.

What a great price! I love the dark one!!!

Now I'm thinking about doing the dark one, with warm grey walls. Added a sailboat photo to go with the coastal theme. Again, I'm close to the water so I have some subtle coastal cues throughout the place.

Why wouldn't I be able to paint the dark one in the future? Can't anything be painted with the right primer and coats?

I prefer the dark one, but I would change the faucet and hardware to something more modern like your kitchen faucet and cabinet pulls. That might be enough to bridge the two styles. Maybe a waterfall type faucet would be fun in there?

Painting those shutters though, that's a PIA. Only slightly worse than cleaning TP lint off of them.

I prefer the dark vanity against the white.

With you mentioning you like a coastal feel for the bathroom, a color suggestion for the walls would be a bird egg blue and if going with the darker vanity, I would use a dark framed or non-framed mirror (vs white - if that was your plan). It seems you are leaning towards the dark, but if you go light - which I think may work better for a coastal/casual feel, add wicker, distressed wood mirror, an old ladder to hang your towels, hemp mat and great prints.

I think the light wood keeps it fresh but the dark is a richer feel so just decide on how you want it to tie into the rest of your house.
