Thanks. The stone is common new england field stone, and has been utilized as the facade on interior and exterior fireplaces. In this photo you can see the chimney is the same stone. If you are considering the stone for an interior fireplace facade, it may be best to have a fairly large wall surface to be able to show off the stone. Not all stones are as large as in this photo, but the interior of the fireplace will show off best with a larger area incorporating the stone around the firebox.
