too many windows too...for shutters everywhere...and the windows seem to be too close.

Me? I'm a lover of all windows shuttered (verb? LOL!). It's a shame you aren't able to squeeze them in without overloading the space but wonder... could you add something else on the house that would compliment it's simplicity?

If this is the front of your house, I think you need a large porch instead of shutters. A porch that extends the whole length of the front, what is there now seems just too small. I don't think it is shutters that are missing. :)

It looks to me like shutters could work.

First floor, you can put awnings...can even double up windows under one awning. Top floor, shutters.
Flower boxes would also be very nice. You can put low maintenance plants in the boxes..different coloured hostas...foliage, don't need flowers.
I don't know where you live, but here in Ottawa, Canada...you don't have to remove the hostas in containers during the winter months...they are great.
You have a beautiful house, have a great time jazzing it up.

HI -- No shutters -- too many small windows and it will look choppy and cluttered . Put decorative window trims instead . Maybe just shutters on the small top window that fit the shape of the window .

The problem is that the window trim is too narrow and lacks style. You could, as pointed out above, enhance the trim for a better look.

No shutters. A wrap around porch would be great though.

Each shutter's width should be half of the inside width of the window (half of the sash width) for them to be proper. Figure it out.
