You must get rid of the large white wall unit. In the nook between the beam and the wall..put nice built-in shelving (glass or thick wood painted the colour of your trim..or stained the same colour as your table).

I would put a curtain rod from the beam to a couple of inches away from your light switch. Get enough curtain panels to cover the portion of the wall next to (left of) the window, and enough to cover the window when you want to close them. Curtains should be to the floor.

Cover the other window with same curtains...and same length.
Along with the curtains, you can also get the nice roller blinds that are installed inside the window frame..the ones that look like they don't exist when fully open. I will find a picture and post it for hours. I think you should check out "Hunter Douglas" for blinds.

Another option would be to put nice roller blinds on both windows...and curtain panels only on the window next to the TV. You don't have to have curtains on both windows. You could balance out the other window art. Maybe three pieces on top of each other in a row.

Remove TV clutter. You can get some commercial strength Velcro and mount most gadgets to the rear of your television...including the remote (easy to find remote that way).

I know I'm rambling on...I'll try not to anymore after this! If you are considering shelving, you might want to wallpaper the back wall of that nook...or paint it with a pop of colour.
