Building a home. Want to know is wooden floor as easy to clean as tile?

Wood floor is fairly easy to clean; just don't pretend you are swabbing a boat deck. There are cleaners on the market made especially for hardwood floors.

Cleaning is only one aspect of the decision, though. Standing on tile is similar to standing on concrete. It is also subject to breakage from dropped items or will demolish items dropped on it.

I have had both tiled kitchens and wooden floor kitchens - both are easy to clean but for me standing on a wood floor is much more comfortable than standing on tile - esp if you are spending any amount of time preparing meals, cleaning up, etc.

wood floors don't look as nice.
and require more maintence.
you have to re polish and it scratches very easily.
i used to have them and when i redid my kitchen 2yrs ago i changed to white cabinets and tiles

Your voting buttons don't match your question. Have you already decided to go with tile and are now just wanting to know what color cabinets to go with the tile? If so, could you give more detail or photo of the tile you've selected?

My wood floors were too much maintenance. I switched to porcelain tile that looks like wood. I put gel mats near Sink and stove for comfort. Best decision I ever made. Can't see grout and has the look of wood.

All of our clients put wood flooring in their kitchens. This is a common question on Houzz and often include a poll. Hardwood always wins!

I'll take my porcelain floor over wood. So much easier to clean. Wood wears in traffic areas and is expensive to refinish. Glad I got rid of my wood.
